DR SPARKS' SPECIALTIES
Vitreo-Retinal Surgery is a relatively new subspecialty in Ophthalmology which grew out of the need to focus on and treat diseases in the retina. The retina is a highly complex organ which comprises the inner layer of the eye. Dr. Sparks recently marked the milestone of 20 years of impeccable service in his practice, and has successfully treated and helped to restore vision in thousands of patients with diabetic eye disease, macular degeneration, macular edema, and retinal detachments. As a Vitreo-Retinal Surgeon, he is an expert in the diagnosis and treatment of diseases of the retina, which is composed of millions of tiny nerve cells and fibers, the center of which is the macula. The retina is essential to good vision. The retina "receives" the picture before it is sent on to the brain via the optic nerve.
Diseases and Diagnosis consulted on would include Diabetic Retinopathy, Macular Degeneration, Vitreous Hemorrhage, Retinal Detachments, Retinal Tears, Macular Hole, Macular Pucker, Macular Edema, Central Serous Retinopathy, Retinal Vein and Artery Occlusion, Eye Trauma, and other Retinal, Vitreous, Macular, or Choroidal disorders.
